The cease fire has stopped the bombing in Lebanon and Israel, but the need for humanitarian aid continues as displaced civilians return to their homes-some of which have been reduced to rubble. On August 22, an AmeriCares airlift, with more than 15 tons of essential medicines and relief supplies including antibiotics, analgesics, and basic first aid supplies valued at $2 million, arrived in Beirut to help the critical humanitarian situation in Lebanon. ANERA is partnering with AmeriCares and the YMCA-Lebanon to distribute these life-saving medical treatments and supplies to a network of major hospitals and health clinics.

Since the beginning of the crisis, ANERA delivered $5 million of medicines and medical supplies to nearly 500 charities and government clinics and hospitals. In addition, we provided infant hygiene kits to thousands of displaced families living temporarily in schools, churches and mosques. We also completed a major program of providing thousands of displaced people with one hot meal per day. Together, they were valued at $800,000.

Nearly one million Lebanese were displaced during the war. The return of most will further strain the health care system, which was largely cut off from receiving medical supplies over the past month. ANERA will continue to provide humanitarian aid as these people begin the process of reconstruction. Your contribution will help us continue our relief efforts.
